Description
LongTail Kitchen is a Thai Seafood restaurant. The restaurant currently has a website, but I decided to redesign their website and make it more user-friendly and eye-catching. This project comprised to designing four web pages for Longtail restaurant menu.
Process
I decided to redesign the restaurant logo, since I thought it could have shown more of the business concept which is thai seafood. I got the idea of looking at a wok from the top view; a circle could be seen after abstracting it. The circle also is considered as a symbol of life and nature. I used two fishes and rounded text inside the circle. As Longtail restaurant serves sea food specifically. The angle of locating the fishes around the circle illustrates their movement, liveness, and freshness. Why Red? I opt for red as the color of fire, warmth, and energy. So all the freshness, warmth, and nature have been summarized in a logo as the “Longtail restaurant’s trademark”.
I made some roughs for the project’s layout to visualize my ideas on a piece of paper. Based on my roughs I needed to design a banner to include the logo in the header. So after sketching, I designed it in Illustrator and put them together with the logo to place them in the web pages’ header. I masked a bowl of food on Home page for using the technic as I was asked to do in this project. Having all the visual elements ready, done in Illustrator and Photoshop, I designed the pages in Indesign.
