Description
Nowruz, meaning “New Day”, is the Persian New Year which is celebrated on March 21, every year. People visit their friends, relatives, and neighbours with exchanging small gifts and best wishes. “Doodle for Google” is creating a temporary, occasional logo for Google landing page in important worldwide events and occasions. This doodle is done for the Iranian New Year.
Process
The most important customs in Nowruz is the Haft-Seen, meaning “seven seen’s” in English representing the seven pieces of decoration for the Persian tabletop named Sofreh. Each of these seven items symbolizes a Zoroastrian virtue. Health, Exhilaration, Wisdom, Satisfaction, Bravery, Patience, and Wealth are the symbolic meanings of the Haft-Seen decorations. In this project I illustrated the decorations using in “Haft-Seen”, beside “Haji-Firouz” who is a similar character to Saint clause in Christian. He colours his face in black, plays the Daf (Daff) drum, and sings in the streets to call for celebrating Nowruz.
