Description
Anamond Handmade Jewelry is based in Sydney, Australia. Anamond appeals to those who seek creative handmade jewellery that is not only meant as an ornament, but is a part of the individuals identity. The purpose of this website is to advertise and sell Anamond Jewellery Products globally. As a startup business, Anamond is required branding and a webpage design to advertise and promote its products.
Process
My role at the beginning was designing a logo, then an eye-catching jewelry webpage to get Anamond start its path. After talking to the Anamond business owner, I got the idea of what she tends her logo and website to look alike. Gold, pink, and grey colors, “Ram” as the symbol of Anamond, fancy appearance of the webpage theme, and a cover photo including the owner’s picture are the elements she emphasized on.
I did brainstorms, sketches, and finally approached a good design for the logo with combination of a ram head with horns and a diamond, then I simplified and abstracted it and completed the design in Illustrator. (Anamond = Ana (the first part of the owner’s name) + mond (the second part of diamond).
Homepage Cover
For designing the cover, I used a painting–Woman in Gold, from a world-famous Austrian painter, Gustav Klimt. I tried to replace the head of the Anamond owner with the queen’s head in the painting. Also I trimmed one of the Anamond featured Necklace to place into the painting. I performed it in Photoshop, using technics that the whole piece looks consistent and like a painting. The reason I selected “Woman in Gold” painting is that most part of this masterpiece is made by gold, so it could be a great match for what I tended to make. Then I placed it in the Homepage, beside the Welcoming statement.
Starting the web design from scratch, it required Information Architecture. So I did a mind map based on the business director’s requirements, and finalized the global navigation after receiving the owner’s satisfaction.
Reaching the good layouts for all pages, I did some roughs based on the navigation. Thanks to Daily Designables, I used some of the Style-Box-1 elements to implement to this project.
All the pages have a consistent format, so I coded the homepage, then I placed the header style, navigation, and the social icons to the other pages and replaced the body with a different and related codes to the pages.
